The master of extremes

More sharpness in no time
With our innovative locking system, you can easily exchange the discs to discover even higher levels of sharpness.

For fast initial sharpening
The diamond disc efficiently grinds any hardness of knife to give it a high-quality, lasting sharpness.

For an edge free of burr
After using the diamond disc, the ceramic honing disc removes any burr and refines the grinding result.

For filigree sharpness
The 15° grinding angle gives particularly fine blades made from high-quality carbon or Damascus steel a filigree sharpness. High levels of hardness in such steels allow a knife edge to be sharpened very finely.

For robust sharpness
The 20° grinding angle ensures a long-lasting sharpness for everyday use on sturdy blades such as European chef's knives. The 20° angle will also give outdoor and pocket knives a robust cutting edge.

For maximum efficiency
The block diamonds on the standard diamond disc achieve up to 80% more steel removal compared to the HORL®2 version. This makes sharpening even faster and results in a more uniform grinding pattern.

Securely fixed with maximum grip
Developed for an even stronger hold, the HORL® Grip Pad provides up to 70% more grip than the HORL®2 version. With its ultra-strong magnets, it is now better at holding even the smallest of knife blades in place.

Made in the Black Forest
Dried for weeks, accurately machined and inspected by hand, each piece of wood is transformed step by step into a product of the highest precision. The natural wood grains of oak and walnut give your HORL®3 a unique character.
Answers to the most frequently asked questions.
Questions and Answers
How do I sharpen knives that are higher than the HORL Sharpener?
To grind particularly broad blades, where the cutting edge stands higher than the grinding disc, elevate the sharpener with a suitably thick cutting board to ensure contact with the cutting edge is within the radius of the grinding disc.
How can I clean the diamond and ceramic discs?
To remove grinding residue of the diamond and ceramic discs, cleaning with a pencil eraser is sufficient. If necessary, the standard diamond disc can be twisted off and thoroughly washed in warm water, with a little washing-up liquid and a brush.
How do I exchange the grinding discs?
Grasp the HORL® Sharpener firmly with one hand. With the other hand rotate the grinding disc backwards to release it. Remount the required grinding disc or whetstone on the sharpener by rotating it forwards until it locks into place. Grinding discs can be exchanged on both HORL®3 and HORL®3 Pro models.
How long do I have to sharpen the blade before my knife is sharp?
The amount of time required will vary when a knife is sharpened for the first time with the HORL®3, depending on the condition of the blade and the quality of the steel. On average, it takes five minutes. The edge must first acquire the chosen grinding angle. However, thanks to the constant grinding angle, only a few rolls back and forth are needed for subsequent resharpening.
05What should I do if my knife has a grinding angle other than 15° of 20°?
For knives that have previously been sharpened freely by hand, the angle often differs after each sharpening and no consistent grinding angle can be determined. Therefore, it is worth initially sharpening your knives with the HORL® Sharpener and the angle support to obtain an constant grinding angle that can be reproduced each time. Use the marker pen method to visually check the success of the grinding process. In addition to 15° and 20°, the HORL®3 Pro angle support also offers alternative grinding angles for more filigree (10°/13°) or more stable (22°/25°) sharpness.
